STAR OF YESTERYEAR - MADELINE KIVITT
INDUCTED JUNE 18, 1996
The name submitted to the committee this year was the name of one of our
former bowlers who set all kinds of records.. She began her bowling career at
an early age and soon became a name to be recognized in the Southern Ohio
bowling world. Her primary membership started in the GREATER CINCINNATI WBA,
but she soon became a member of the HAMILTON ASSOCIATION bowling with the
Ladies Classic League at COLEMAN LANES on Monday nights.
In the 1967-68 season she won the Hamilton All-Events title and again in the
1973-74 season. By winning the 1973-74 "All-Events" title she was eligible to
bowl in the very first BUCKEYE BELLE tournament which she won with an
impressive 832 series (4 games) total for an average of 208 for the day and
winning this title.
She also bowled the first 700 series recorded by a Hamilton bowler - a 707
with games of 248-227-232.
Besides the Buckeye Belle championship, Madeline was also a member of the
State Championship team winners in 1968 and she won the State All-Events
title in 1981.
She was forced to retire from bowling in 1987 because of health reasons. But
she has a genuine interest in the game still and we feel she is truly
deserving for membership in the GREATER HAMILTON HALL OF FAME as our Star of
Yesteryear. Bowlers, I present MADELINE KIVITT for this honor.
Added note: Madeline has also been inducted into the OWBA State Hall of Fame
and GREATER CINCINNATI WBA Hall of Fame.
