An Inquisition Record

An Inquisition document gives names and sentences from the "Auto General dela Fee" in Toledo on November 25, 1691. The original document is in the British Museum, and was previously copied and published in a study packet. My summary is prepared from an English translation of the study packet.

1. Maria Firbino, age 70, Portuguese, heretic, died in prison.

2. Maria Blanca de Silveyra, age 16, Portuguese born in Madrid, conversa relapsed to Judaism, sentenced with her sister and father to loss of all goods and perpetual and irremissible (life) imprisonment.

3. Diego de Toledo, lived in Madrid, conversa relapsed to Judaism, sentenced to wear a sanbenito, 200 lashes, and life imprisonment.

4. Rafael de Silveyra Henrriquez of Madrid, Italian soldier, a relapsed Jew, was sentenced with his daughters. His sentence was to wear the sanbenito for two years.

5. Jacinto Vasquez Arauso, relapsed to Judaism, burned.

6. Isabel Ruiz Gutiezzer, relapsed to Judaism, burned.

7. Joan Molero, professed Lutheran, burned alive.

8. Antonio de Anila of Cordoba, Portuguese, money changer of Madrid, burned.

9. Don Pedro Diaz, alias Henrriquez, Portuguese, money changer of Madrid, burned alive.

10. Dona Blanca Henrriquez, relapsed to Judaism, died by garrottting, burned.

11. Don Juan Luis de Campos, relapsed to Judaism, burned alive.

12. Dona Josa Nunez de Silva, Portuguese, fugitive, sanbenito put on her effigy.

13. Don Alonso deCordoba, alias Diego Lopez, Portuguese, relapsed to Judaism, fined and exiled for 6 years.

14. Manuel de Cazeres, alias Azias Nunez, Portuguese, tobacconist of Madrid, fined and exiled for 6 years.

15. Catharine de Reyna, relapsed to Judaism, heretic, sanbenito and reconciled, 2 years in prison and exile.

16. Ana de Cazzeza of Madridejos, sorcerer and trickster, to wear coroza (dunce's cap), lashes, and exiled.

17. Mariana de Loazte, Portuguese, wife of Rafael de Silveyra, relapsed to Judaism, sanbenito and life imprisonment.

18. Felipa Chacon, wife of Manuel de Cazeres, Portuguese, relapsed to Judaism, sanbenito and life imprisonment.

19. Diegi Fernandez de Salobreno, bigamist, lashes, exile, and 7 years in the galleys rowing without pay.

20. Francisco Aluarez of Chincilla, relapsed to Judaism, sanbenito and 2 years imprisonment.

21. Isabel de Sotillo, bigamist, to wear coroza, 100 lashes.

22. Lorenzo Vicente, preacher and trickster, 100 lashes, 8 years exile, 5 in the galleys.

23. Maria de Silveyra Henrriquez, daughter of Isabel de Silverya, age 19, sentenced with her sister and father to loss of all goods and perpetual and irremissible (life) imprisonment.

24. Antonia Martinez, bigamist, 200 lashes, 2 years exile.

25. Joan Berrio, bigamist, 200 lashes, 9 years exile, 7 in the galleys.

26. Maria Nunez de los Angeles, bigamist, filed, 8 tears exile.
